CROP Walk Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest Saturday 9/12/2009 - Sep 09, 2009 at 2:24pm -

Families are invited to create sidewalk art reflecting the theme "Helping the Hungry: Making a Difference."  Prizes will be awarded by age category and a special Mom's only prize drawing will be held.  Events take place outside the Santa Fe Depot, 200 S. Medieval Fair April 3-5 - Mar 31, 2009 at 8:00am - Held annually since 1976, this event relives the Middle Ages with arts and crafts, food, games, jousting tournaments, human chess games, costume contests, and more. The Medieval Fair of Norman is the state's largest weekend event and the third largest event in Oklahoma, and is held at Reaves Park, 10am to 7pm, for three days. http://www.medievalfair.org/

Car Seat Check Friday! - Mar 12, 2009 at 1:05pm -

The Norman Police Department will be hosting a child passenger safety check-up event at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds 1-3 p.m. Friday. This is in conjunction with the Just Between Friends children’s clothing consignment sale. A limited amount of car seats are available for eligible families.

It is estimated four out of five car seats are installed incorrectly, Master Police Officer Jennifer Newell said. Those with questions may call Newell at 366-5267. Transcript Article

Mardi Gras Parade Tomorrow - Feb 20, 2009 at 8:34am - 15th Annual Norman Mardi Gras Parade - Celebrating Ancient Cultures. Starts 6:45 p.m. Saturday. Step off begins at the Santa Fe Depot on Jones St. and goes north to Main.

Featuring stuffed animals, real animals, Moon Pies, beads, life size characters, a seven-foot fox, Victory Dolls Roller Derby team, Rowdy the Redhawk, SCA, belly dancers, fire hoop dancers, McMichael's Electric Guitar Band, Little River Zoo staff and animals and Friends of the Dog Park, with Doggie Gras, including dogs and owners in costume.
